RACE REPORT – Spar Ladies 10km Challenge – Braving the race by Neville Frieslisch aka Noami Campbell
Yes, men can run this one providing they dress the part. So, we did but I still have a sore arm after having it twisted by some of my club mates.
There were three of us old 70+ supermodels Heidi Klum (aka Horst) Twiggy (aka Theo) and Naomi Campbell (aka Neville) who had to be up extra early, as all you ladies know, to get your skirt adjusted properly, your hair done and lipstick on un-smudged.
We managed and drove through to Greenpoint in the pouring rain. Thankfully the rain died down and we could line up with the thousands of other ladies without having our outfits spoilt and our mascara running.

The other FHAC not so super models like us ha ha but much better looking were there Glenda, Doreen, Kay, Mary Anne, Carol, Jessica, Lyn, Michelle, Kirsty and Corinne. (Where was Gavin the man responsible for adding this race to the short course?)
After well wishes from Elana Meyer and other dignitaries (all there just to see us supermodels I think) and a rousing rendition of the national anthem we set off.
It’s a fast and flat out and back course along the seafront. As not eligible for any of the accolades we went off at a leisurely pace and endured the unending attention chirps, laughter, giggles, shouts of goldie locks and being flirted with by the spectators and always wonderful marshalls.
Always like an out and back course as you can greet and chirp friends and fellow club mates. We reached the end just before the rain started again. All great tongue in cheek and really fun for us.
This is a serious challenge race for the ladies especially the elite runners.
Thanks to Spar for a well organised race, the biggest goodie bag I have ever received and their support to charities and the fight against gender-based violence.
