RACE REPORT: Hohenort 15km – first race in 2024 and first 15km by Dominique Bender
” So, this is how my 2024 race year started on the 13th of January with the Hohenort 15km race hosted by Pinelands Athletic club which started and finished at the Alphen Centre, Constantia.
My longest race in club colours thus far. A well organised event which also luckily happened to be on a pearler of a day with next to no wind. Great vibe from the start to finish and to top it off, I had amazing fellow FHAC club members around especially Mary-Ann who pushed me along the way.
It was a very hilly race but thank goodness all things that go up eventually must go down. All in all, a well-balanced and scenic route with plenty of GEES including a couple people in very beautiful homes wondering what on earth we were all running from so early on a Saturday morning.
Definitely a race to add to your bucket list for next year after the busy festive season when you’re looking for something chilled.”
